Cafe Source

Cafe Source in Hongdae

Chanced upon this cafe while looking for food. This cafe not only serve nice desserts, they do have proper meals as well. So if you are looking for place for decent meals, you can consider this cafe. But do remember to leave some stomach space for their dessert called 'mopple'. It's texture is like a mixture between waffle and mochi. I guess you can call it fushion.

So far i tried 2 different flavours of their mopple and they didn't disappoint me at all.

They do serve cakes as well, but personally, I think their mopple deserves the credit more than cakes.

Here's the direction to Cafe Source

Take subway line 2(green line) to Hongik University Station, also known as Hongdae, exit 9. When you come out from the exit, this is what you'll see. Turn left and walk into the streets.

Walk all the way straight till you see a junction, cross over
the streets to Aritaum and turn right. Walk all the way into the lane.

When you walk all the way straight
into the lane, you'll come to this junction. You'll see a up slope on your right. Now all you have to do is climb up that slope.

When you are about to reach the end of the slope, you'll see the cafe on your right. It's right beside Starbucks.

This is how the mopple that i've been gushing about looks like. It has pudding on it as well~~

If you want to consider to be there for lunch of dinner as well, this are some of the dishes i've tried. I think their stew is passable even though they said their hamburger stew was chef recommendation. Their pasta and pizza was fine for me.

hope you'll enjoy their mopple as much as i do.

Writing this post makes me want to go back again for their mopple.. :(

Poly Cafe and TEA

Chance upon this cafe while hunting for place to enjoy some snack. I must say their poster look really appetizing, and indeed, it didn't dissapoint us. We were even planning to visit it again to try the other flavours right after we made our order.

Here's the direction to Poly Cafe and TEA.

Take a subway to Hongik University, line 2, exit 8.

Once you come out from exit 8, you will see street like this, turn right and walk straight.

Till you see a junction like this, cross over to the other side of the road and walk towards right side.

Walk straight till you see this nail parlour and take a left turn into the alley.

When you come to a junction like this, you will probably be able to see the standing signage directing you to Poly Cafe. But if you didn't, just take a right turn into the small alley.

Tadah! You have found the cafe. Just go up the steps and there you are.

This is how the interior of the cafe look. A cozy little cafe.

Cafe staff will bring you the menu, but you will have to go over to the counter to make your order. Menu have item name in Korean and English and also photo of every dessert item they have.

If you visit them on weekday, they even have set of a pastry with 2 drinks.

This is what we ordered. It looks just like how you see them in the menu and it taste as good as it looks.

Till i have time to visit them again to try the other item, this is what i'll recommend.

Hope you'll enjoy at this cafe as much as I do~

Introducing Korea's hidden gem

Hello everyone, first of all welcome to my blog. Since you are able to find this site, you probably have interest in one of the most popular culture in Korea, CAFES. As foreigner living in Korea, I was shocked at the amont of cafes I can find here. But as a coffee lover, this place is like paradise.

When asked to introduce nice cafes, I often response with 'why do you need introduction, if I throw stone at any direction, chances are I'll hit a cafe. It's everywhere and anywhere!'

That was just a joke of course, sure you are able to find cafe easily here, but many nice cafes are also hidden in small alley, behind a building or high up in a building with just a small signboard outside. There's so many nice and unique cafe that I've visited and would like to share it with my friends who are here for holiday, but often because it's too hidden or difficult to explain that they have to give it a miss cause they have no time to spare to search for it.

So I started this blog to record down the cafes that I've visited and directions so that in future if anyone is interested to visit a nice cafe in Korea, but do not have too much time to spare, this blog could help in one way or another.

With Love,
Reena
